Nantes Passage

Nantes, France

Nantes is the administrative and financial capital of the "Pays de Loire" province. It is regularly ranked as the best city in France for the quality of life it offers. Of the almost 600,000 inhabitants, 31% of the population is under 20 years of age. This young, vibrant city houses 15 "grandes écoles" (universities) and 50,000 students. While Nantes is a bustling hub of youthful activity, it also has a particularly rich historical heritage. The prominent 15th century Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne sits right in the heart of the city and serves as a visible reminder of the region's extensive history.

Between history and modernity, visitors to Nantes will also find plenty of natural beauty. The city is littered with green parks, walking trails, and a picturesque river that brings serenity to the heart of the city. Nantes is also very close to the seaside, and accessing the coastal villages and resort towns is very easy.

Audencia Nantes School of Management

Audencia Nantes is a Grande école de Commerce, a member of the French Conférence des Grandes Écoles that are considered to be the pinnacle of French higher education. The school was founded in 1900. Audencia Nantes belongs to the less than 1% of business schools in the world holding the 3 major international accreditations: AACSB, Equis and Association of MBAs. Audencia has more than 2200 students from over 47 countries, and an extensive corporate network of worldwide companies.

The campus is located in the city of Nantes, just a 10-15 minute tram ride from the center of downtown. The small campus borders a river and a wooded area. The main campus building is state of the art and well-respected for its innovative architecture.

Academics

The summer program at Audencia is comprised of several "modules" worthy of academic credit. Students will spend 4 - 8 weeks pursuing a variety of subjects and exploring the local area with visits that are related to what they are studying in class. Students also have the option of pursuing a French language class while in Nantes. On this program students are limited to a maximum of 9 Bentley credits (typically 3 summer classes at Audencia).

Accommodations and Meals

Though there is no on-campus housing at Audencia, there are several options for accommodations in Nantes. The staff at Audencia will assist students with finding housing arrangements. Audencia hosts a database on the campus intranet providing information about pre-reserved rooms in student residences, studios/flats or family lodgings.

Option 1: Host Families
Students have the opportunity to live with a French family during their semester in Nantes. Students living in host families will experience French culture first hand, and have regular exposure to the French language in order to perfect their communication skills. Depending on the family, some meals may be included in the price.

Option 2: Area Residence Halls or Studio/Shared Apartments
Students can live in public residence halls or apartment buildings, mostly with other students but also with some local residents. Many residences are near the Audencia campus and university restaurants are nearby. Students walk 5-20 minutes to class, depending on the location of the residence selected. Accommodations in student residences are usually in single dormitory-style rooms with a bathroom shared with the neighboring room. Rooms are typically equipped with a hot plate, small fridge, and sink.

Students in all types of housing generally eat in the university restaurants where full-course meals are available at lunch for very reasonable prices. Students can eat in the snack bars or local cafés in the evening.
