Program Description:

Tilburg, Netherlands

Tilburg is a lively student city located in one of the fastest growing economic regions of the Netherlands. As a city it is the 6th largest in the country, with over 200,000 inhabitants. More than 25,000 of these residents are students, giving the city a vibrant youthful culture. Tilburg is a cultural and historic city close to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris, and is positioned well as a gateway to other parts of Europe.

Tilburg University

Tilburg University is extremely highly ranked within Europe, particularly in the fields of business, economics, and social science. The university is located in the southern part of the country. Tilburg University's campus is very easy to navigate and the city center is nearby.

There is a student organization at Tilburg which matches incoming international students with local "buddies" and regularly organizes activities for all exchange students at Tilburg.

Academics

Students at Tilburg University will have the opportunity to take classes alongside local Dutch students and other international students. The curriculum available is entirely in English, and students will also be able to pursue Dutch language courses.
Courses are taught by a series of formal lectures/classes together with a strong emphasis on coursework outside class, including individual project work, group project work, computer skills, library work, and class presentations. Students may find they have more free time during the week with less day-to-day homework than they are used to, but professors may expect a great deal more from them on exams.

Accommodations and Meals

Tilburg University does not offer student accommodation; however, two housing companies in Tilburg offer furnished accommodation to international students. Tilburg University recommends that students apply for housing via the site www.yourroomintilburg.com. Tilburg cannot guarantee housing to incoming exchange students. Any student who does not get a housing placement via Your Room in Tilburg will be responsible to find their own apartment rental.
