Melbourne South Bank

Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne is a city like no other.  Situated on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, at the mouth of the Yarra River, the city of Melbourne, known as the "Garden City," has some of the most beautiful parks in the world.  The capital of the state of Victoria and a thriving city of multicultural people, Melbourne is also Australia's pre-eminent center for arts, education, culture, entertainment, culinary excellence, sporting spectaculars, shopping and business.

Check out this video of Melbourne!

Melbourne was also rated one of the top 10 student cities in the world in 2013 (above Boston)!  See the rest of this list here.

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

Founded in 1887, RMIT consists of six campuses and enrolls more than 57,000 undergraduate students. Study abroad students will study at the city campus in the heart of Melbourne's business district. Participants take classes with local RMIT students and enjoy the same educational benefits, clubs, organizations and services.

Courses are taught with a combination of lecture and tutorials and focus on group work and case studies. Students take four (4-credit) classes while studying abroad at RMIT.

Semesters are on the Australian calendar:
Fall Semester - Mid July to Early November
Spring Semester- Early February to Late June

Accommodations and Meals

While attending RMIT, Bentley students reside at RMIT Village in Old Melbourne. RMIT Village is an independent student residence, renovated from its former status as a Victorian hotel. It is centrally located very close to the Queen Victoria Market, and a 10 minute walk or 5 minute tram ride to the RMIT campus.  Students are housed in double rooms, called "A-2" rooms, with a sliding partition to create single bedrooms. As there is no meal plan, suites are equipped with basic kitchens. Each double room has its own bathroom. The building has a business center, laundry facilities, a common room with TV, game room and ATM. The front desk is staffed 24 hours.

Students also have the option to find their own, independent housing in Melbourne.
