The  Santander  Universities  Study  Abroad  Scholarship Fund  assists  Bentley  students  with  financial  need to participate in international academic programs.  Earn up to $5000 to fund your study abroad experience!

√ Program Requirement: Bentley-sponsored program with minimum of 8 weeks abroad
√ Citizenship Requirement: United States or US Permanent Resident
√ Financial Need: Applicants must have a current FAFSA on file and demonstrate financial need

Students can check their Financial Aid Awards in MyBentley.  Click on the Finance tab, then Financial Aid Awards, and select awards for the current year.

Priority is given to applicants for Bentley-sponsored academic-year or semester study abroad immersion programs  outside  of  Europe  and  Australia, but all applications will be considered.  The exact number of scholarship awards will depend on quantity and quality of applications received.  Applicants will be prioritized according to quality of application and level of financial need.

Awards will range:

Up to $3000 for Bentley-sponsored semester or academic year programs
Up to $2000 for Bentley-sponsored summer programs

Semester and academic year scholarship recipients must  design  and  carry  out  a  cultural  investigation  project  throughout  the  term  abroad  and present their work at a special public event upon return to campus.  The format is open. Students may create written work, blogs, videos, multimedia, or any other final product provided that the project (or meaningful  excerpts)  will be  suitable  for  presentation  to  a  wide  campus  audience  of  students, faculty, and staff.

Projects must:
  • Incorporate field-based research (for example, interviewing locals, following and analyzing local current events, investigating an aspect of the local culture).
  • Demonstrate achievable goals, creativity, and feasibility.
  • Involve  significant  reflection and analysis  throughout  the  course  of  the  term  abroad. Students should not merely  report  and  summarize,  but  also  incorporate  experiences  and changes in opinions over time.  Students will need to demonstrate new understanding, learning, growth, or change that they experienced as a result of the cultural investigation project. LSM or  Honors  students are  encouraged  to  apply.  The cultural  investigation  project may  provide  students with  potential  topics  for  their  culminating  project  or  senior  honors  capstone.  Please  discuss  this possibility with relevant advisors.

Scholarship recipients will participate in the Santander Social Media Project. During the term abroad, students will participate in some of the following activities:

  • Take over the bentleyuabroad Instagram

  • Write blog posts for the Bentley Study Abroad Blog

  • Create a video documenting their experience abroad

  • Submit photos to help promote Bentley study abroad
