The Open Campus program is designed to give you unmatched opportunities to study and embrace different customs, cultures, and languages. This unique program allows you to customize your study abroad experience based on your individual goals and needs. You can stay in one city for the entire semester (18 weeks) or change cities every six weeks and study in up to three locations in a single semester. Open Campus programs are offered in culturally vibrant, metropolitan cities throughout Europe, South America and in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Open Campus Program offers classes in the following cities:
Rio de Janeiro
Students can choose to study in up to 3 cities (at any of CIEE’s Global Institutes) doing courses in 6 week blocks. In each location, courses are available in International Relations and Political Science, Business, Communications, Journalism and New Media, Global and Community Health, Language, Literature and Culture. Students take 2 courses in each location for a total of 18 credits for the semester. Internships, service learning and academic projects are also available for credit in the third term. This program is perfect for a student who has a strong interest in Global Studies and has a flexible course schedule.

In the heart of each city, you can choose among a variety of housing accommodations, such as international residence halls, apartments or home stays.

Global Studies Majors
This program is designed for students with a strong interest in global studies. The program will prioritize students with a Global studies major/minor or a Global Perspectives LSM. Please set up a time to meet with a study abroad advisor to see if you're eligible to apply.
